10 Day Sample Itinerary
Day 1
Depart for the Holy Land.
Day 2
Arrive in Israel at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv and board
tour bus heading to Caesarea - A site of
one of Herod's magnificent, opulent palaces. Haifa
and Mt. Carmel - Standing on top of Mt. Carmel the
pilgrim will observe the place Elijah defeated the 450 prophets
of Baal. In addition the pilgrim will observe from the top
of the Muhraka Monastery another excellent view of the Jezreel
Valley.
Overnight: Tiberias
Day 3
Bethsaida - This was a fishing village on
the Sea of Galilee that Jesus visited often. Capernaum
- The fishing village which served as home during Jesus' Galilee
ministry. Tabgha - The Church of the Multiplication.
This is where the feeding of the five thousand took place.
The simple Chapel of the Primacy stands on
the shore of the lake. It was built on the spot where the
risen Christ appeared to his disciples, who were fishing on
the lake. After visiting the Chapel of the Primacy, we will
sail across the beautiful sea of Galilee.
Yardenit - Experience baptism at Yardenit,
in the Jordan River, located at the southern tip of the Sea
of Galilee.
Overnight: Tiberias
Day 4
Gamla - At Gamla, pilgrims will walk the
ruins of an ancient city destroyed by the Romans. Sit in a
synagogue that Jesus more than likely taught in as you listen
to the distant waterfalls and marvel at the large vultures
and eagles that soar on the heights above. Tel Bental
- Stand atop a volcano that rises 1400 feet above sea level
and see the plains of Syria where many modern and ancient
battles have been fought. To the north the snowcapped Mt.
Hermon rises in the distance. Caesarea Philippi (Banyas)
Tel Dan - An ancient city and the source of one of
the largest branches of the Jordan River. In biblical times
it marked Israel's northern border. It is now located in 100
acres of a glorious nature reserve.
Overnight: Tiberias
Day 5
Mt. Tabor - Pilgrims will visit the Basilica
of the Transfiguration, the site where Jesus was
transfigured. The view from atop Mt. Tabor is one of the most
breathtaking panoramas in Israel. Nazareth
- Jesus grew up in the village of Nazareth until his ministry
began at the age of 30. Zapori (Sepphoris)
- These ruins date back to the first Temple period and give
the pilgrim an intimate view of the remnants of a complete
pre-Roman Jewish town along with a Roman theatre. It is the
home of the Mona Lisa of the Galilee. Tel Megiddo
- This tel consists of twenty civilizations built one on top
of another. The Jezreel Valley surrounds the tel, giving the
pilgrims an in-the-round view of where the battle of Armageddon
will take place.
Overnight: Jerusalem
Day 6
Qumran - This area is the location of the
caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found by a young shepherd
boy. Legend has it John the Baptist once studied here with
the Essenes. Massada - Once the Palace of
Herod, and then a refuge for zealots, it is considered by
some the Gamla of the South. Eventually conquered by the Romans,
Massada offers a magnificent view of the Dead Sea and surrounding
area along with vivid insight of the people from the 1st century.
EnGedi - En Gedi was a source of renewal
and strength for David and his men as they fled King Saul.
David would replenish in the Living Waters of En
Gedi as we replenish in the Living Waters of God's
Word. As a deer panteth after the water brooks, so my soul
panteth after thee, my God.. (Psalms 42:2) Dead Sea
- The warm waters of the Dead Sea with the salt content 30
times stronger than any ocean is said to offer many medicinal
remedies. The group will enjoy the remainder of the day at
the Dead Sea.
Overnight: Jerusalem
Day 7
Mt. of Olives - The first stop will be the
Mt. of Olives where Jesus ascended into heaven. Take a moment
to reflect back to that day and time while your eyes gaze
upon the panoramic view of the Holy City. The presence of
God is all about, cast your eyes toward the Eastern Gate,
and envision the triumphant return of our Lord in all His
glory. Tomb of the Prophets - The pilgrims
press on to their next destination, the tombs of Zachariah,
Haggai and Malachi with one last glance back at Jerusalem,
the jewel in God's crown. Garden of Gethsemane and
the Church of all Nations -Walk and pray among the
olive trees as our Lord did nearly 2,000 years ago. What an
impact this very night has had on the world and all of mankind.
Located here are the tombs of Absalom, Jehoshaphat, Zachariah
the Cohen, and St. James. From here you will have a scenic
view of the Mount of Olives and Ancient Tombs. Israel Museum - Home of the Dead Sea Scrolls and the model of the Temple Mount and Old City of Jerusalem before 70 AD.
Overnight: Jerusalem
Day 8
Temple Mt. - After a hearty breakfast the
pilgrims will go up on the Temple Mt. This is the most sacred
piece of land in the entire world. Here the Temple of the
Most High God once stood in mighty splendor and could be seen
from miles away. The Temple was destroyed by the Romans in
70 AD. The Dome of the Rock and the Al Aqsa Mosques has stood
since the 7th Century AD. Pretorium - Barracks
of the Roman Soldiers. Mt. Zion - Pilgrims
will go up to Mt. Zion, here they will enter the Upper Room
where Jesus served the Last Supper. Envision them lounging
at a low table, listening in question and wonderment to their
Master. Also on Mt. Zion are the Tomb of King David
and the church of the Dormition of Mary.
It is believed the Virgin Mary died in this place. Old
City - From Mt. Zion we will walk into the Old City
with all its sights, sounds and smells. Pilgrims will visit
the Jewish Quarter, The Cardo (3,000-year-old
street), and Holocaust Museum . The group
will take the time to shop before returning to the hotel.
Overnight: Jerusalem
Day 9
Via Dolorosa - We will walk the Via Dolorosa
starting at St. Stephen's Gate (Lion's Gate).
Our next stop will be the Wilson Archaeological Park
below the Temple Mount near the Dung Gate. The Davidson Center
is also located there. It has three floors and houses a theatre
gallery. This gallery contains a screening of a unique high-definition
10 minute digital video (the first available in Israel), describing
the Jewish pilgrimage to Jerusalem during the Second Temple
period. Garden Tomb - As Jesus was led through the
Damascus Gate, he struggled toward Golgotha
(Gordon's Calvary), where He was crucified for all sinners.
He was buried in the Garden Tomb, from which
he arose after the third day. Victory over hell, death and
the grave is ours, because He has risen.
Overnight: Jerusalem
Day 10
Before we leave Israel on the evening flight back to the States
we will visit the Valley of Elah, (where
David and Goliath fought) and Beth
Shemesh (the place of the return of the Ark of the
Covenant by the Philistines).
